welfare
We’re here to help if you need some extra support, whatever your age or stage in life. We have a small team of volunteers who can help in various situations.

Living abroad has extra challenges when it comes to things like illness, accidents, bereavement or financial difficulties, and the members of the association are here to help.
We can also offer financial assistance to British nationals in the form of small grants, more details below.
Please get in contact if you would like to talk to us about getting some support.
practical support
Some examples of the sorts of things we might be able to help with:
- basic technical help with things like mobile phones, tablets and computers
- filling in various forms for government services like healthcare, etc
- navigating the systems for things like visas, identity cards and driving licenses
financial support
We offer a small grant scheme to those who qualify for support – British nationals who are resident in the region, travelling or on holiday here. We tend to make small, one-off grants to particular individuals. We don’t have resources to fund ongoing situations.
Here are some examples of the kinds of needs that we have funded in the past:
- repair or replacement of small household items
- travel costs or cab fares to important appointments
- emergency food parcels or other urgent household supplies
- one-off costs of mobility equipment where this is not funded in other ways
The majority of our grants would be valued at less than €100, with larger grants in exceptional circumstances.
